“The Violin” novella releases tomorrow on Kindle.
Gays, high school, bullying. Seemed like bullying awareness month was a good time to release it. As it is short, I’ve priced it at $2 — half the price of the novels. And though it is copyrighted and I would prefer be downloaded, it can be shared.
I recall being bullied in grade school — terribly so — and the result was being awfully socially inept in high school, though I managed to find my own self by college. But I came of age in a happier time. Today, bullies can be cowards, spewing their nasty comments from behind a cyber-wall and making their victims miserable out of school as well. Can bullying be prevented? Somewhat, but never stopped. It’s in our natures, probably coded in our DNA. So raise your kids to be kind. And pay attention.

Same here. This one girl was the bane of my student existence. I realized in high school (in one blinding moment, really) that she was far from a happy person. I learned years later that she ended up living in a trailer outside town with a man and kids, all of whom she hated. Part of me grinned ferociously at that.
